When I went up to visit my family last time, in the Great White North, lots of fun was had. Food was a major part of the visit! Tim Horton’s. Poutine. Swiss Chalet. Just to name a few….. Oh my word. I am drooling just remembering. I think the even better part was being home and getting to have mom’s cooking!!! Some old favorites, and a lot of new ones that have now become a staple at my house since coming back! This recipe is one of those favorites!
I have always LOVED granola. And I really do mean love. Not like a high school crush, but a full blown, all growed up, LOVE! The MOMENT the granola hit my tastes buds I just knew. This was it. We were meant to be together! Yes. Yes we were.
Then my mom told me the ingredients I got even more excited!!! I try my best to eat healthy, though I don’t want my food to taste like cardboard! I want it to be wholesome and delicious!
“Wait. What? Are you serious?? No butter? Or oil?!” Yep, that’s right! And I couldn’t believe it! Any granola recipe I have ever made has called for butter, or oil, or both! And that has always been its downfall, and where a lot of calories seep into this delicious breakfast treat! So when my mom told me that there wasn’t any… I. Was. Thrilled. Wait…. music… angels…. harps….. yep, my personal heaven!
So folks, here it is! This wonderful recipe is from the The Best of Silver Hills: Vegetarian Cuisine! I have made this 2 times in the last week and I can’t wait to make it again! This time I am also going to be using it as the base for some homemade granola bars! Yummy!
It’s that simple! This makes a larger recipe of granola – sans fat! Perfect for breakfast, on yogurt, for a base in homemade granola bars, etc! That flavor is simple and delicious! It is a staple for breakfast for me! <3 If it’s made, I eat it every day! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
You could also easily add in whatever nuts you want into this recipe!
